Chemin de fer de la Corse

Pont en construction dans la région de Venaco aux environs de 1890.

Mon arrière grand père Martin était entrepreneur sur le chemin de fer avant de construire et d'exploiter le Grand Hôtel de la Forêt à Vizzavona. Cette photo est très intéressante car elle montre les diverses phases de construction d'un pont du chemin de fer. Elle m'a notamment permis de comprendre la raison du cordon existant à la naissance des voûtes et qui servait à caler les échafaudages. Il est émouvant de voir ces ouvriers poser pour la photo et de constater à quel point ils travaillaient dans des conditions périlleuses !

He wrote this : My great grand-father was a builder for the railway before building and managing the great hotel in Vizzavona forest. Is is a very interesting picture because it shoes the different phases for the building of a bridge. It helped me to understand the reason of the stone cord at birth of arches used to wedge the scaffolding. It is exciting to see these workers pose for the photo and see how they worked in hazardous conditions!
