This new label come from the north of France. But it's not new comers on the metal sceene. Agony was at first a zine & a distribution list. So you may have listen to them before.

They' ve just released their first production in CD. This band is called Goden. But Agony is also a big mailorder distribution list with bands that i've already presented like Spasmophilius, Obscuration, Wallachia, Gothic, Inhumate, DAB, & with other ones coming worldwide. Agony is especially devoted to extreme style of metal. The label also produced & distributed demo tapes (professionally duplicated or not). SO it's one of the best way to discover the future in metal......Agony also prepares the coming release of Crack up....

Goden / Damn nation / Kromadeath /

GODEN : As mainly dutch bands, Goden is a discret one in the metal sceene. But it's really not a fault. Goden plays an intellligent thrash death metal strenghthen by technical guitar solis. Goden is also the first release of the new label called Agony records. For a first release it's a very good one. At first, it's a mCD & not an album & that's really a pity because there's no major weakness on this CD. Cover is very good & attractive. The production is also better than the average. & the technical level of Goden is also better than the average. The band likes to play a thrash death metal full of long & melodic solis. There's also sometimes guitars duels!!!! Of course, Goden is not a beginner in the metal sceene. They started in the early 90's & have already made 3 demos (available at Agony records). They also give tittle for 2 compilation CD this year. In fact, Goden remains me a mix between the first Exodus Lp (for the rythmical parts), Chastain & Manilla Road ofr the solis (great technical & epic). Goden has also made a great effort on vocals. SO it's not linear growls but a voice full of variations : from death to "gothic". So, this band is a real discovery & a really good debut. I think that Goden will truly become a referencee. & this mCD willl surely become a collector. SO....

DAMN NATION : Created in 92, Damn nation waits until 1995 to spread its name & its brutl grind core, due to line up problems. In the early 96, they released their first demo tape (a reheasal one) called"Rehearsal promo tape 96". Then, they released a live demo tape, recorded for their 3rd live performance. This one is called "Live? ". On the begining of 1997, they enter the Kromadeath 's studio ( a 8 tracks one) to record their new demo called "A hated life" : 2 tracks & some live ones coming from the 2d demo. Signed & distributed by Agony records, Dead sun records also proposes them to release a split CD for the end of the year. Damn nation has also released lots of compil tape like "Poetry of the extreme"( i.e.). On the last demo tape, the 2 studio tracks are slower than the rest of Damn nation stuff. Thus, it allows them to be more "audible" 'cos the recording needs are really hard. These two tracks shows some brutal death & grind music, alternating with slow & very loud parts. The live tracks are ( on my own opinion) really representative of Damn nation : ultra speed, very brutal without compromission. I'm sure that as soon as the band will have good studio conditions they'll assert themselves in the metal sceene as one of the most brutal & un compomissive band...Read the interview!!!!.

KROMADEATH : Kromadeath is still a band coming from the north of France!!! But this one has just spliited up after few demos & one album Kromadeath plays a old school death metal. I hear tracks coming from their promo tape 1992 & 1994. Of course, between the 2 recordings, sound, songs have changed (always int he bast way) but it's sure that it was really great work , really well done for these years. Now, it can sound old fashioned 'cos death metal is not on the top, but, if you like or have been keen on this style, Kromadeath is a good example of energy , where ultra fast tempos are mixed with loud & slow parts, ....
